If the selector lever of an automatic transmission is on “P”, the park position is engaged and prevents the vehicle from rolling. Functions: Selection of the park position by means of the control piston valve. When tooth meets tooth, only the torsion spring is preloaded. When the wheel is turned further, the locking pawl engages in the next indentation.
