vane-type camshaft adjuster

In an external rotor, an internal rotor is rotated in a clockwise (early) or anti-clockwise (late) direction by oil pressure. The internal rotor is kept in its rest position by springs. The oil channels in the shaft and in the rotor are easily recognisable. The solenoid coil for the control- early or late- has also been cutaway.
